More downtown living means more downtown parking

With more and more apartments being renovated in downtown Grinnell, there is a continuing and growing need for more overnight parking downtown. The city has already designated parking spaces in some downtown parking lots for overnight parking only. Now, the city council has approved overnight parking on Broad and State Streets. Mayor Gordon Canfield says anything helps.

All night parking will be allowed on alternate sides on alternate nights on Fourth Avenue between Broad Street and State Street, and Fifth Avenue between Broad Street and Park Street. The city council has approved the first reading of the ordinance amendment. The new parking rules will go into effect after three readings.
