THE CITY OF GRINNELL AUDIT OF THE FISCAL YEAR THAT ENDED JUNE 30TH OF LAST YEAR HAS BEEN RELEASED.
IT SHOWS THE CITY TOOK IN JUST OVER 12-MILLION DOLLARS… INCLUDING NEARLY THREE-POINT-SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS IN PROPERTY TAXES…AND SPENT MORE THAN 18-MILLION DOLLARS… INCLUDING MORE THAN ELEVEN-POINT-SIX MILLION DOLLARS FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS.
IT ISN’T UNUSUAL FOR SUCH A DISCREPANCY BETWEEN RECEIPTS AND ALLOCATIONS TO OCCUR…AS A GOVERNMENT ENTITY OFTEN RECEIVES BOND AND GRANT FUNDING IN A FISCAL YEAR DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE IN WHICH THOSE MONEYS ARE SPENT.
