Fullfilling Your Messiah Complex . . .

Ever play that game . . . if you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?

I want to be Jesus. . . . not because he has the cool outfit (Green Lantern has that) but who wouldn’t want to have the power to heal someone?  Everyone of us has, or has had someone, or will have someone who will/had/has some sort of illness that we wish we could fix.  I know from my own personal experience, there was my mom’s Alzheimer’s, my dad’s blindness, my daughter’s myriad ailments, friends who have diabetes, cancers, substance abuse, liberal thinking, the list goes on and on.

Now some of you think that I’m kinda a jerk about people’s needs and feelings.  That’s hurtful . . . true,  but hurtful.  Like the other day, my wife (who is generally acknowledged as uber sensitive to others feelings) saw an ad on TV with Matt Damon talking about his water project.  The key talking point was how these folks had to walk 6 hours a day for clean water.  Now the fact it was a woman or child who had to do this walking only added to the quiet  (OK, not so quiet) outrage.   So a snarky,(funny, but snarky) kidding aside was not the appropriate response she was looking for. . . .

Lesson learned. (until next time)  Now, in my defense, my first instinct is to ALWAYS crack wise, no matter the occasion.   Some of my best material was delivered during the endless hours sitting in the waiting room while my dad had open heart surgery when i was a teen.  I guess I married a girl just like the girl who married dear old dad, or at least that is the assumption based on Mom’s reaction to the puns and quips.

Getting back to the 6 hour walker. . .

My first thought is “how horrible”.  Unfortunately, that is just that, a thought.  What comes outta my mouth is more like, “why don’t they just move closer to the water and save some travel time?”  My heart is in the right place, its my mouth that’s the problem.

What does all this have to do with the power to heal?  Honestly, I’ve just read this back and I’m not sure.  Oh yeah, original point.. . . the power to heal.

The point that I want to make, is that you DO have the power to heal.  Not thru some mystical or miraculous superpower, but by lending your support to the “44 Cent Cure” this Wednesday.

The stations of Alpha Media LLC (thats KGRN’s parent company, or the ECM – Evil Corporate Masters )are teaming up with World Concern, a christian charity with a goal of curing 1 MILLION kids in developing nations, of parasites.  All it takes is one dose of medication that costs 44 cents per child.

Wednesday is World Health Day and we hope to cure a MILLION KIDS.  And with your  donation of 44 cents (or more) at www.myiowainfo.com you will get that one thing I wish for . . .

The Power of Healing.

Peace
