Shooting incident in Marshalltown

Thursday February 28, 2019, at approximately 10:19 a.m., law enforcement personnel were
executing a drug search warrant at 302 North 2nd Street in Marshalltown. While attempting entry into
this residence, officers encountered an adult male who was armed. Two, Marshalltown Police
Department officers did fire their duty weapons during this encounter. Nobody was injured. The adult
male has been detained by law enforcement.
The investigation of this incident is ongoing. The Marshalltown Police Department has asked the Iowa
Division of Criminal Investigation to conduct an independent investigation of this officer involved
shooting. Pursuant to department policy, and normal protocols, the Marshalltown Police Department
officers involved in this incident have been placed on paid administrative leave while this investigation
is ongoing.
Also assisting with this investigation is the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Mid Iowa Drug Task
Force.
