Jasper County Supervisors Buy Former NewCare Health Clinic Building

Jasper County owns another building. The County Board of Supervisors have approved the purchase of the former Newcare Health Services building at 315 West 3rd Street North for 616-thousand 93-dollars. The 1-story building directly north of the Best Western Holiday Manor hotel will be used for office space. Just over 2 weeks ago the County Supervisors hired BBS Architects and Engineers of Des Moines to meet with them and representatives from each department that may move to the building to confirm space needs, a conceptual layout for offices, and estimate renovation costs. The fee for that service was not to exceed 13-thousand dollars. The building was listed on February 13th of this year with CBRE/Hubbell Commercial Realty in West Des Moines, with an asking price of 865-thousand dollars. According to that listing, the 11-thousand 525 square foot building was constructed in 1930 as a medical office. It sits on 1.78 acres and was completely remodeled in 2012. It currently has 1-thousand 525 square feet of office space, with the rest storage area. NewCare Health Services opened its doors in April 2013 with Todd Burch as its managing partner. He had been the CEO at the hospital in Pella for 3 years. In 2014 Newton Clinic and Skiff Medical Center took over the facility through Jasper County Health Ventures, a limited-liability company that was started as a new venture between them. Then in January of 2016 it was announced NewCare Health Clinic would close and consolidate with Newton Clinic effective April 1 of that year. After that the building housed Gingerbread Daycare before becoming vacant.
