Junk Mail Migration Art Exhibit & Presentation and Free Weaving Workshop

Artist Kristin Roach’s exhibit, “Junk Mail Migration”, is currently on display at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge visitor center’s art gallery through February 25th. Kristin will be presenting a program on February 25 at 10:00 am about her artwork and will share some fascinating facts about what inspirated her to create the “Junk Mail Migration” artwork. 

Through art and technology, this exhibit highlights how junk mail impacts the boreal forest ecosystem, including the birds that breed in this area and migrate through Iowa. This program is recommended for adults and older children and registration is encouraged but not required. Please contact [email protected] to register and to get additional information. 

Additionally, Kristin will be presenting a free weaving workshop entitled “Bringing the Outdoors In”. During the workshop participants will learn the basics of tapestry weaving & create a nature-inspired weaving. Kristin stated that “weaving provides the perfect way to express the inspiration we feel when in nature”. Adults & children aged 10 & up are welcome to participate in the workshop, but space is limited to 24 attendees and registration is required. Children attending must be accompanied by an adult.
