Would you like to help build tallgrass prairie? We are looking for volunteers to
help clean native prairie seeds by hand and with tools on Saturday, January
13, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. This activity
involves removing the stem, leaves, and other parts, leaving just the seeds for
planting. This work will be done inside the seed lab located at the refuge
visitor center.

You can enjoy learning about prairie plants while contributing to building
prairie for people and wildlife. Individuals, families, and groups are welcome
to participate. Free hot chocolate and snacks will be available for volunteers.
Volunteers are required to fill out a volunteer agreement. Volunteers under
the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the form. Volunteers
are required to wear closed sturdy shoes and pants.
