Volunteers Needed to Collect Prairie Seeds on National Public Lands Day. Celebrate National Public Lands Day (NPLD) at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, September 23 from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm by volunteering to hand collect native prairie seed. NPLD is the nation’s largest, single day volunteer effort on public lands. Enjoy the fall weather, wildflowers, and
viewing wildlife while participating in this beneficial and fun activity that helps build more prairie. Individuals, families, and groups are welcome to join, and snacks will be provided. You can bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the indoor or outdoor

Volunteers are required to fill out a volunteer agreement. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the volunteer form. Volunteers are required to wear sturdy, closed shoes, a long-sleeved shirt, pants, and bring a refillable water bottle. We also recommend volunteers bring insect repellent, and sunscreen.
