Second Saturday Stewardship
Join us to help rebuild more tallgrass prairie by hand collecting native prairie
seed. Enjoy the prairie filled with a variety of native seeds while watching
wildlife as you help conserve Iowa’s native habitat.
Hot chocolate and snacks will be available courtesy of the Friends of Neal
Smith National Wildlife Refuge. We will clean seeds indoors to prepare them
for spring planting if the weather is inclement.
Individuals, families, and groups are welcome to participate.
For additional information and to register contact [email protected] or
call 515-994-3400.
Volunteers are required to fill out a volunteer agreement. Volunteers under
the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the form. Volunteers
are required to wear closed sturdy shoes, pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and
clothing appropriate for the weather and bring a refillable water bottle.
