County Health Department Announces Arrival of 2nd Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine for Healthcare Workers

The Jasper County Health Department announced this morning the arrival of the second COVID-19 vaccine doses for local healthcare employees. They are to get the second shot at the same location their first dose was administered. For the Moderna vaccine, there needs to be at least 28 days between dose 1 and dose 2. The local County Health Department says healthcare workers who got their first doses at Medicap Pharmacy in Newton, will receive a text from Medicap about the second dose. Newton Clinic will continue doing walk-ins for the second dose. Mercy One Newton is vaccinating their employees, and the County health department says all the MercyOne Newton employees that want a COVID vaccine are able to get it. Local Health officials say any healthcare worker who has not received the first dose should go to the Newton Clinic as soon as possible.
