A Des Moines woman caught with a stolen car and numerous drug pipes at a Newton Motel in late May has been given a 5 year suspended prison term and 3 years of probation. Court records show 22 year old Cheyenne Meyer plead guilty to 2nd Degree Theft. As part of a plea agreement, another charge of Identity Theft has been dismissed. District Associate Judge Steven Holwerda has ordered Meyer to stay at the Fresh Start Women’s Residential Correctional Facility in Des Moines, until she has received the maximum benefit of that facility. A restitution hearing in her case has also been set for October 26th. On May 28th…hotel staff at the Days Inn on West 19th Street South alerted Newton Police to a suspicious vehicle parked in a remote location behind the motel. Staff said the vehicle was not associated with any of their guests. Inside the stolen Chevrolet Malibu officers reportedly found six marijuana pipes, two meth pipes, and a number of credit cards. One of those credit cards belonged to the owner of the vehicle. According to police…Meyer admitted she unsuccessfully attempted to use that credit card. 19 year old Casey James Allison of Newton was arrested with Meyer. In August he plead guilty to Violation of a No Contact Protective Order and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Court records show he was sentenced to 4 days in jail.
