Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a proclamation today (Tuesday) setting Tuesday, October 12th 2021 as the date for a special election in Iowa House District 29. The election is needed following the resignation of Representative Wes Breckenridge last Friday. Iowa Code outlines the authority given to the governor to set a special election. Breckenridge, a Newton Democrat, was serving his third term in the Iowa House of Representatives. House District 29 is in Jasper County and includes Newton, Baxter, Colfax, Mingo, Kellogg, Oakland Acres, and Ira.
