Newton Man Accused of Apartment Building Assault Free On Bond

A 41 year old Newton man accused of assaulting his neighbor in their apartment building last Friday night bonded out of jail yesterday (Monday). Court records show Ronald Anthony Oldham is free on a 3-thousand dollar bond. He’s charged with Willful Injury Causing Injury. Newton Police claim Oldham hit his neighbor in the face multiple times, drawing blood. Officers claim witnesses stated the punches were thrown out of nowhere, with no provocation by the victim. But Oldham claimed he acted in self-defense, after his neighbor swung at him. This reportedly occurred in the men’s Courtyard Apartment Building at 1453 North 11th Avenue East. The victim, who’s requested a No Contact Order Against Oldham, claims his neighbor came over multiple times and asked the same questions and appeared to be under the influence. At one point, the victim told officers Oldham came over and asked if he wanted to box.  The victim said he declined.
