The City of Newton’s theme for RAGBRAI riders’ visit to town on day 5 of the annual statewide bike ride has been announced. It’s “Get Your Kicks on Highway 6”. Newton Mainstreet and the Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce are spearheading all the activities associated with the Thursday July 27th event.

That’s Amanda Price…Executive Director of the Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce. Most of the riders are expected in Newton from late morning to mid afternoon. They’ll enter the City at Highway F-48 West and First Avenue West. Go downtown. And then leave the downtown area and Newton on First Avenue East. Newton is one of the pass through communities on the Des Moines to Tama/Toledo route of RAGBRAI. Other nearby pass through towns that day include Mitchellville, Colfax, Kellogg, and Grinnell.
