Maytag Pool opens for the summer season this Saturday and is scheduled to close Sunday August 13th. The 1935 built pool has undergone many upgrades and improvements. Jamie Murphy, Newton’s Assistant Superintendent of Park Operations, says the most recent improvements were operational related. But new play features should be coming soon.

The pool features zero-entry access, a chair lift, water fountains, two water slides, and a diving well.  It can also be sectioned off into six 25 meter swimming lanes. Open swimming begins at 1 p.m. each day. Open swim ends at 9p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and at 6:45 p.m. the rest of the week.  Toddler time and lap swimming occurs most mornings except Sundays. Murphy says renting the pool for evening pool parties is still very popular.

Season Pool passes were reduced to 45-dollars this year. The daily entry fee during open swim is $5.00 and children 3 and under are free.  For Toddler time and lap swim the entry fee is $2.50. All transactions at Maytag Pool are cash only. For more information…click on “Maytag Pool” option under the Departments …Park & Recreation…option on the City of Newton’s website.
