No Jail Time Given in Newton Woman’s Drug Related OWI Sentence

A 34 year old Newton woman who police found unresponsive in her running and locked vehicle May 17th, has been sentenced for 1st Offense OWI. Newton Police say officers had to break a car window so paramedics could render aide to Angelica Diane Kolman. Her car was in the 200-block of North 8th Avenue East around 1:30 that Monday morning. According to the Police report…Kolman admitted she had taken a handful of Xanax, some Trazadone, and smoked marijuana. Officers said she struggled to stay conscious and was taken to MercyOne Newton Medical Center. There…a blood draw turned up meth, amphetamine, and alprazolam in her system. Kolman’s sentence includes one year of probation, a 625-dollar civil penalty, and orders to complete the DMACC Driving Under the Influence Class and undergo a substance abuse evaluation and any recommended treatment.
