Stolen Motorcycle and Suspect Recovered in Newton Wednesday Night
A man from northeast Poweshiek County was caught with a stolen motorcycle in Newton last night. Newton Police say 27 year old Tylor Dean Hudson of Hartwick was taken to jail on charges of 2nd Degree Theft and Driving with a Barred License. The cycle he was riding was stolen from Story City. A Newton officer saw a motorcycle turn onto East 12th Street North from 1st Avenue East shortly after 5:30. The officer claims the driver, who turned out to be Hudson, accelerated at a high rate of speed passing vehicles. The arresting officer turned around and initiated a traffic stop. Hudson reportedly pulled into the driveway at a home in the 300-block of East 12th Street North. The officer asked for his information, and Hudson said he didn’t have it. The arrest report says Hudson was confrontational with the officer, who ran the motorcycle’s plate and discovered it was stolen. A check of Hudson’s license revealed it was barred from April 29th 2020 till April 29th 2022…due to habitual offenses.
