The State of Iowa is transferring .72 miles of U.S. Highway 65, from the Highway 330 intersection north, to Jasper County. For taking over this section of the Highway, County Engineer Russ Stutt says the County is getting a single payment from the State.

That’s Stutt as he talked to County Supervisors Denny Carpenter and Doug Cupples this morning. They unanimously approved the jurisdiction transfer. Supervisor Brandon Talsma was unable to attend today’s meeting. The County Supervisors today also approved a contract for creation of the final design plans for the new bridge that’s going to be built on Highway F-48 over Squaw Creek west of Colfax. Calhoun-Burns and Associates Incorporated of West Des Moines will produce the plans for a Continuous Concrete Slab bridge that’s 120-feet long and 30-feet wide. Construction costs for the bridge and associated grading is projected to be about 690-thousand dollars.
