Newton City Offices Closed and Community Veterans Day Ceremony Monday
Veteran’s Day is Monday and Newton City Offices and the Library will all be closed.
That’s Danielle Rogers, the City of Newton’s Community Marketing Manager. Newton’s Veterans Day Ceremony, hosted by the local American Legion and VFW Posts, will be held at 11a.m. Monday at the American Legion at 1101 West 4th Street South. The guest speaker will be retired Brigadier General Craig Bargfrede of Ankeny. His past service includes Commander of the 185th Regional Training Institute at Camp Dodge, and Commander of the 734th Agri-Business Development Team that deployed to Kunar Afghanistan and served from July 2010 to June 2011. His many military declarations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star medal, the Army Commendation medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Iowa National Guard Medal for Merit.
