A proposal to allow residents in Prairie City to keep live chickens failed to get any support from the City Council. A public hearing on the idea was held during last night’s Prairie City City Council meeting. City Clerk and Finance Officer Cindy Kane said recently several residents had expressed an interest in having chickens. But she notes 4 or 5 others voiced concerns about that to the Council. In the end…the proposal last night died for a lack of a 2nd, meaning none of the City Council members wanted to proceed to an actual vote on the issue.
