Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to any mom who happens to be reading this.  Hope you get something special today from your family.  Whether it be a gift, meal, or just preferential treatment of some kind, you deserve it.  Parenting is no easy task, and it is often a thankless job.  As a mother (again, any mom that happens to be reading), you are doing your best and you are doing a great job.  Your family appreciates it, even if they don’t often tell you.  If you haven’t told your mom lately how much she means to you, be sure to do so today, in some way, shape or form.

It’s been almost a year since my mom died.  She passed away the day after Mother’s Day last year, having battled cancer for several years.  I think about her every day and miss her constantly.  I became a parent myself a few years ago, and there are times where I wish I could talk to my mom and ask her for parenting advice.  She was a great mom and always seemed to be able to keep a calm, level head during hectic situations, something I often struggle with, especially when it comes to parenting.

Even though I miss my mom a great deal, I am still excited today to celebrate my wife, who is an amazing mother to my 2 children.  The kids and I are lucky to have her in our lives.  I’d be lost without her.  My sisters, who are also mothers, do a great job as well.  My mom would be proud.

To all the moms out there, regardless of your parenting style or how well you think you’re doing…just know that you’re amazing, you’re doing great, and you deserve the best today.  Happy Mother’s Day!
