Volunteers Needed to Clean/Prepare Native Prairie Seeds

Join us to help rebuild more tallgrass prairie by cleaning native prairie seed by hand and with tools at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. This process involves removing the stem, leaves, and other parts, leaving just the seeds for planting. This effort will help reconstruct diverse tallgrass prairie. Work will be done inside the seed lab located at the visitor center. You can enjoy learning about prairie plants while contributing to building prairie for people and wildlife. Individuals, families, and groups are welcome to participate. Free snacks will be available for volunteers. Volunteers are required to fill out a volunteer agreement. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the form. Volunteers are required to wear closed sturdy shoes and pants.
