Brave the cold to enjoy an introduction to the world of bird watching at Neal
Smith National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, February 17, from 8:00 am – 9:30
am. The program will start with a quick lesson on binocular usage and bird
watching tips-and-tricks, followed by a walk along one of the trails. Free
loaner binoculars will be available for check-out and free bagels and hot
chocolate will warm participants up after the walk. This event is geared for
bird watchers of all skill levels, ages 8 and older.

The refuge is located right off highway 163 in Prairie City at 9981 Pacific Street
– only about 30 minutes east of Des Moines.
