The Lynnville-Sully School District has released a construction update on the projects being funded by the latest bond issue. The update is posted on the school district’s website. The multipurpose gym on the north edge of the existing high school building has a targeted completion date of this coming December 31st. It will provide space for physical education classes, extra-curricular practices and competitions. The facility will have a wood floor, retractable bleachers, and bathrooms. The District notes the exterior “shell” of the building is currently being erected. Soon, the structure will be enclosed and interior work will begin. A new concession stand is being built near the football field and track. It will feature many more bathroom stalls/fixtures to alleviate long wait times at big events. Additionally, the concession stand will have a larger, more updated work space for concession stand workers. The existing concession stand will be used this season while construction of the new building wraps up. The District notes casework and ceiling/wall materials for the new concession stand are currently on back order which has delayed the project. Once the new concession stand is finished, the old concession stand will be utilized for storage. Major renovations are underway for the K-8 main entrance. The improvements are designed to create a more secure school environment, and a more modern work space for office staff. Currently, casework for the office work space, and brick needed for the walls is on back order. The School’s HVAC system is undergoing major upgrades. The four rooftop units on the high school gym have been replaced. Also, the HVAC system in the middle school gym and kitchen area is being updated, and new heat pumps will be installed soon.
