More Newton Students Riding Buses This School Year
More students are riding buses to and from schools in Newton this year. A reduction in the distance a student must live from their school to qualify for free busing has created the increase. Dave Kretz is the District’s Transportation Supervisor.
Kretz notes this year the District has adopted an innovative mobile device app called Traversa Ride 360. It allows parents and guardians to view the real-time location of their child’s school bus on their smartphone, tablet or computer. This provides the information needed to send children to the bus stop at just the right time, helping to protect them from inclement weather or other issues, and to know when their bus is heading back at the end of the school day.
