Manpower and money go hand in hand when responding to large snow events. Newton Public Works Director Joe Gife shared some of that information with the City Council last(Monday) night.

Gife noted last week, the City went through about 8-thousand dollars of salt brine…with limited success.

He adds lots of snow has been getting hauled out of downtown each night.

Gife says most nights the City’s main streets are cleared twice, while residential areas are done once. He added there’s about 200 lane miles of streets to clear within the City.
