Newton Police Make Public Intoxication Arrest At Police Department
A Story County woman was arrested at the Newton Police Department just after midnight this morning for allegedly being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. According to a Newton Police report, 59 year old Gina Pender of Kelley was at the police department to report people were following her. When an officer arrived at the lobby, Pender was reportedly on the floor hiding behind a garbage can. The officer says Pender claimed people were following her, pointing guns at her, poisoning her car and clothes. She also reportedly admitted she had smoked marijuana, had not slept in a couple of days, and was on a lot of medication. The officer also said she refused to call someone for a ride, refused go to the hospital, refused sobriety testing, and could not keep her arms or legs from twitching.
